Perspective, Really Is Everything.  Your perspective dictates your view of the world, as you have seen and experienced it throughout your lifetime -- It's your compass when it comes to making decisions!

Perspective Is Everything

The more you experiences you have, the broader your perspective will become.   Additionally, the more often you have similar experiences, the stronger your belief in those perspectives becomes; regardless of anyone else’s opinion, and many times, even the facts.  That’s the problem with perspectives, they are always based on your own views and experiences, which will always be limited, even with an audience of only two!

Just because you have had experiences that have formed your perspective, it doesn’t mean that everyone else has had the same experiences – giving them a completely different perspective on the same experience.  That is when problems arise, when different perspectives collide, whether it be in life or in business.  Your perspective is your perspective and everyone else’s perspective is their perception.

Perception Is Reality

Perceptions are based on opinions that haven’t necessarily been proven “true.”   – whether they are your own, someone you trust, and many you aren’t quite sure about, since your perceptions are constantly being bombarded by marketers and everyone on social media having an opinion!  Until you experience something for yourself, you rely on your perceptions, whether they are correct or not.  You may choose not to do something because of someone else’s opinion; however, on the other hand; you may choose to do it and have your perceptions and perspective changed forever- it’s a tough balancing act, but

Even when you experience something, your perception (what you expected) may not align with your experience (positively or negatively), which ends up changing both your perception and perspective going forward. This tension, between expectation and experience, either dissaWith Regardless, you , start forming when you hear or see something, and start forming an opinion about but haven’t necessarily experienced it yourself.

As a business owner, you may have your perspective on the quality of your products and services; however, your customers and employees may not always agree — The larger the disagreement, the bigger the problems and/or opportunities can be.  Whether it’s your customers or employees, until your perspective aligns with their perception, you will always be on “different pages”!  To change someones perspective, you have to first change their reality, allowing them to experience it for themselves.

Perspective...Really Is Everything

What I’ve learned in almost 30 years implementing change is pretty simple; regardless of the methodology that you are utilizing, if you change their perception of what needs to be done, they are usually willing to help you get the job done, and more importantly, continue to help you make improvements over time.  If you don’t change their perceptions first, getting them to see things differently and accept a different perspective, then you are literally “fighting an uphill battle” that no one really wins in the end.

You must first change the perception of what’s possible by having them experience, before trying to changwhich is what this entire blog, along with my consulting work, is intending to do…Changing Peoples Perspectives on Business and Business Performance!
